There are a few different kinds of dishwashers out there. You can choose from a door-mounted unit, a portable unit, or even a combination unit. These units are generally divided up into two main types, namely the in-line and the rack-and-pinion (R & P) style. Let's take a look at each of these types of dishwashers.
The in-line unit uses a feed tube to dump the dirty water onto a catch basin. The most common type of in-line dishwasher is the front line model. You simply push a button, set the drain on the tap, and wait for it to finish running. The front of the unit looks much like the side of a standard sink. The drain is located on the top of the unit, near the lower part of the counter.
Some of the other dishwasher models are the reverse unit and the back-flow prevention unit. Both of these types have some similarities but they both operate differently.
An in-line dishwasher has a built-in filter to help with the filtration of the water. This prevents any nasty, chemical-laden stuff from making its way into the bowl of the unit. It also helps with making sure that you don't get any of the nasty bacteria from the dishwasher. The dishwasher has to run frequently to remove any debris that may have accumulated during the time that you've been using it. This is especially true if you're constantly using it to wash your dishes, which you probably are. So you'd definitely need a back-up in case you have a spill or something else in the bowl.
The other type of dishwasher is the rack-and-pinion (R & P) dishwasher. These units work similarly to the front-loading models, although they have a tray attached to the inside of the unit that you use to load your dishes. When the appliance is not being used, the tray slides right out of the opening in the back of the unit. Then you simply put your dishes onto the tray and slide it back into the opening.
The best things about this type of dishwasher is that it doesn't take up much space on your counter, as most of the dishwasher doesn't have faucet knobs or anything else that needs to be fixed on the inside of the unit. It's also easy to find, because there are racks designed for this kind of unit so you can locate it in your kitchen.
On the other hand, the rack-and-pinion dishwasher is probably the least efficient of the two types, due to having the expensive faucet knob. It is more suited for larger kitchens where you need to move your dishes around.
In addition to that, if you are looking to replace your older dishwasher, then you might want to consider the front-loading model instead. If you have a smaller kitchen and want to put more dishes in it, then this is the way to go.
There are plenty of front-loading models on the market. Most of them are more expensive than the racks-and-pinions, but they are great for smaller kitchens.
There are certain dishwasher brands out there that offer a variety of dishwasher models. This will depend on what part of the country you live in. You might want to check out the different models from a number of different manufacturers so you can make a good decision when it comes to your dishwasher.
When buying dishwasher units, make sure that you know which model best suits your needs. But whatever type of dishwasher you get, always make sure that you know how to clean it.
